After a quiet few months in the writing department, I am delighted to share a few recent successes. On Friday 11th October, I entered the Faber Academy’s relaunched Faber Quickfic competition. In short, participants have from 9:50am BST/GMT until 2:30pm to write 250 words inspired by a picture prompt posted on Faber Academy’s social media.
I returned to this competition with some sense of trepidation, as I had not done anything like it in a while. Fortunately, the picture led to some pretty instant inspiration. I entered the piece into the competition via email, and then waited. 3:30pm came around, and the announcement of the winners. I hadn’t received an email, so I assumed that I hadn’t been successful. I thought I would look on the website at the winning entries, scrolled through and was very surprised to see my name.
